Evernote: A great option for keeping all your notes in one place. Separate personal from business, keep track of ideas & thoughts, and reference conversations from months ago. A go-to for anybody, but especially sports medicine professionals who are constantly juggling multiple things at once.
Google Drive: an ideal platform for any non-HIPAA related information. Great for calendars, to-do lists, or shared files. Can be used for treatment tracking, just eliminate last names to stay compliant!
Wunderlist: a pleasantly aesthetic to-do list, becasue who doesn’t need one of those? This app takes list making to a whole new level, with separate spaces for work, home, travel, supplies to purchase, etc. A great accompaniment to Evernote, this is a quickly accessed checklist, because, again, who doesn’t need one of those?!
Do 3 Things: looking to increase your productivity? Pick 3 things to do each day, tracking your habits with alerts & reminders. Working against the endlessness of Wunderlist and in collaboration with mindfulness, this app helps you complete your tasks and then relax.
Reflect & Focus
Five Minute Journal: if you have a tough time seeing the positivity & accomplishments in your daily practice, utilize the 5 minute journal. Staying buried under a heap of work, as most ATs do, reflecting on the day’s wins is helpful in pushing through the season.
Stop, Breathe, & Think: in the event that you struggle with turning your brain off (or on), meditation is a great way to focus inward. One of the most valuable tools in Stop, Breathe & Think is the emotion selection. You can choose up to 5 feelings, then meditate, and select how they changed. Instant feedback in our instant gratification world!
Stay Informed
Podcast App: great for the commuter AT or those who need something other than music for working our or background. Listening to podcasts is a MAJOR life hack, download and start listening!
TED: one of the most informative & power packed videos
you could watch. Technology, Education, Design doesn’t even begin to touch the surface of all that TED covers. A great resource for the classroom or clinic!
AT Specific
Figure 1: One of the most popular and widely raved about apps amongst ATs. This free app sources medical cases & images from professionals, giving you extensive information at your fingertips. It can be graphic, but that never kept any AT away.
Coach Smart: a step up from your run-of-the-mill weather application, this gives you real time data, including lightening strikes. Enable alerts to inform you when lightening gets tooclose and see all strikes on a map display. A great option for ATs living in inclement weather regions.
